The Family & Youth Institute (The FYI) is an innovative 501(c)3 not for profit mental health research and education institute dedicated to strengthening Muslim American individuals, families, and communities. With increasing demand for its research output and community education offerings, The FYI is growing rapidly.
The FYI is seeking a highly motivated Community Engagement Associate for a Part time (20 hours) position. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing outreach strategies to engage with diverse communities, build partnerships, and promote our organization’s mission and service and provide relevant research and resources to benefit these communities. This position works in close partnership with Executive team members. More information about The FYI is found at www.TheFYI.org.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop and execute outreach plans to engage with specified stakeholders (organizations and individuals) to increase awareness of our organization’s programs and services across the nation.
- Nurture partnerships with stakeholders resulting in meaningful collaborative outcomes.
- Organize and participate in community events, workshops, and presentations to educate the public about available resources and support services.
- Conduct outreach activities through various channels, including social media, email newsletters, and in-person meetings.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop outreach materials, including brochures, flyers, and online content, tailored to different audiences.
- Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of outreach efforts and identify areas for improvement.
- Represent the organization at community meetings, conferences, and other relevant events to network and build relationships with key stakeholders.
- Stay informed about community issues, trends, and best practices in outreach and engagement.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall goals and objectives of the organization.

- Ability to represent The FYI professionally and passionately
- Strong interpersonal, relationship-building and networking skills.
- Project management skills, ability to multitask, and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to excel in independent and team-based work and to collaborate effectively with diverse constituencies
- Exceptional organization skills for maintaining clear, accurate and meticulous documentation and a strong work ethic
- Proficient in word processing applications, spreadsheets, presentation software and social media management tool
Background and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Preferred experience: Public Relations, Communications, Sales and customer relations
- Prior experience of working with American Muslim imams, community leaders, organizations, and influencers
Other
- Salary $25,000 – $30,000,
- Part-time (20 hours), flexible hours, 15 days paid PTO, 10 paid holidays
- Virtual position within the United States with some travel
