About The FYI

The Family & Youth Institute (The FYI) is a national research and education institute focusing on Muslim mental health and family wellness. We provide solutions for mental health and family issues impacting Muslim Americans through research and developing data-driven, religiously and culturally appropriate solutions.

  • Assist in gathering data on Muslim youth groups and student organizations
  • Identify and participate in meetings and efforts to strengthen youth partnerships
  • Provide resources and support to current partnerships
  • Assist with administrative duties

About the Internship Program

We are seeking bright, creative, passionate self-starters to join The FYI internship program. During this internship program, you will have the opportunity to make an impact on the Muslim American community while learning alongside talented, dedicated professionals in a fun, collaborative, and mission-driven environment. We are committed to making internships as fulfilling as possible and helping you learn and grow as a professional. Internship positions are part-time, virtual, with flexible hours, and a stipend is included. The internship begins August 10th and requires a 1-year commitment.

The FYI invites exceptional undergraduate and graduate students from diverse educational backgrounds and a strong desire to promote Muslim American mental health and family well-being. Interns must exhibit professionalism and attention to detail, as well as strong team-work, organizational, and communication skills. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Copywriting: Assisting in drafting long-form and short-form copy for various marketing channels, ensuring brand voice consistency across all content.
  • Design & Video Creation: Support the development of digital/print materials and video content that align with current design trends and the brand’s image.
  • Product Marketing: Assist in crafting strategic marketing plans for FYI products (courses, workshops, merch), collaborating with internal teams for smooth execution.
  • Research & Strategy: Assist with market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitor analysis, with a focus on mental health, research, and the non-profit sector.
  • Skills & Experience:
  • Copywriting and creative content creation in mental health, research, and non-profit industries.
  • Familiarity with design and/or video tools in creating content, ensuring adherence to best practices in digital marketing.
  • Strong attention to detail and interest in learning how product marketing and campaign planning work
  • Examples & Portfolio: Include 3-5 writing samples, as well as 3-5 design/video samples, to showcase content and creative outputs.

The Details

  • Internship virtual Q&A – April 13, 2026 7:30- 8:15 PM EST
  • Applications Due By: May 29, 2026
  • Application Review & Interviews –  June 1st – July 10th
  • Internship Begins/Orientation – August 10, 2026 (About 10 hours a week, About 450 hours at the end of the internship) 
  • Internship Ends- August 13th, 2027
  • Virtual location 
  • Interns are expected to maintain a professional attitude and work ethic at all times. 
  • Intern time is divided into blocks of fixed and flexible hours 
  • Interns meet weekly with mentors and have monthly training sessions.
  • Stipend $2000 paid in 2 payments 

*Interns must be able to meet with their mentors weekly and attend an interns team meeting monthly during business hours*
