Our Team

Maryum Khwaja

Maryum Khwaja, LCSW is a Community Educator with The FYI. She graduated from the Silver School of Social Work at New York University. She currently works as a psychotherapist at Bleuler Psychotherapy Center in Forest Hills, Queens, and has opened a private practice with two partners called Nasiha Counseling – a practice that specializes in, but is not restricted to, working with Muslim clients. 

She has served for the past six years as the Coordinator of Social Services at NYU’s Islamic Center, working pro bono in conjunction with Imam Khalid Latif to provide short-term counseling for Muslim students. She has had extensive experience working with children, adolescents, parents, and families in the child welfare system, and with emotionally disturbed children and adolescents. Maryum was honored by Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer for her service in the borough of Manhattan. Maryum also has experience working in the foster care system and with Alliance for Children as an adoption social worker.
